about

A song we wrote about James and Alyssa from the TV show (based on the graphic novel by Charles Forsman) The End of the Fxxxing World. Coz we love that show and we wanted to release a love story for Valentine's Day.

lyrics

He said “I think that I might be a psychopath”
“Coz I remember all the animals that I’ve killed”
She said “I’ve just gotta leave this boring town”
“Coz it’s making me angry and it’s making me ill”
He lives in a house with too many windows
He thinks that his dad is a bit of a dick
She lives with the perfect family with twins
But her stepdad’s a massive prick
So he decided to pretend to fall in love with the girl
And she trusted him coz he never fit in
But soon they became one another’s worlds
And she felt really comfortable and safe with him
So they stole his dad’s car and ran away together
Didn’t have a plan it was just something to do
Didn’t know they were changing their lives forever
It was hard to separate the lies from the truth

She just wanted to find someone who was real
He just wanted to feel how it feels to feel
He was more like Bonnie and she was more like Clyde
As they drove into the sunset
Side by side

They started stealing but they said that it was for good
“If it’s a chain it’s free reign” so says her dad
They only steal from the rich like Robin Hood
But it wasn’t long til things turned pretty bad
Broke into a house while lying low
Dancing through the night in the home of a stranger
Saw the dust and the overflowing post
Never crossed their minds they might be in danger
And he realised he was not a psychopath
When he killed a man just save her life
He had to do it she was screaming and she was crying
So he stabbed him in the neck with a hunting knife
He lay dead on the floor in a pool of blood
It spread around him in the shape of a heart
They cleaned the scene like they’d seen on the TV
And made sure no one saw them depart

She just wanted to find someone who was real
He just wanted to feel how it feels to feel
He was more like Bonnie and she was more like Clyde
As they drove into the sunset
To hide

She bleached her hair and he bought a Hawaiian shirt
Disguises from Oxfam not so effective
She said “Let’s find my dad he’ll know what to do”
“He’ll keep up safe from the detectives”
They found him in a caravan by the sea
But he turned out to be a liar and a snake
When he called the cops on his baby girl
Even though he said he’d always keep her safe
He said he’d keep her safe

She just wanted to find someone who was real
He just wanted to feel how it feels to feel
He was more like Bonnie and she was more like Clyde
Nowhere left to run to
Nowhere left to hide

Turned out to be his 18th birthday
She didn’t know it made her pretty sad
She said “I would’ve got you a birthday present”
Didn’t know it was the last one that he’d have
He said “Tell them I’m sorry and I did it all”
And he kissed her on the lips and ran out to sea
And she heard the gunshot and watched him fall
And she screamed as he dropped to his knees
He dropped to his knees

He just wanted to protect his girl
But now it’s the end of the world
It’s the end of the world
He just wanted to protect his girl
But now it’s the end of the world
It’s the end of the world...
